"The Devil's Backbone"

After lapping-up "Pan's Labyrinth", I gave the ol' Guillermo another try. A nicely-crafted film, beautiful photography. But it was just... dullish. I mean, I've seen duller. But I wasn't just fascinated.

An orphan during the Spanish Civil War (again) starts seeing a ghost in the orphanage. He unravels the ghost's story. There are some explosions.

The ghost effects were pretty neat.
