This is typical FOX news asshattedness, but maddening nonetheless.

When the science guy criticizes Ham's museum for trying to convince children that people lived with dinosaurs like the Flintstones, Kausich jumps on him for scientists taking the "mystery out of life".

Ham's museum isn't about putting the "mystery in life". It's about trying to convince people that the Flintstones are real.

I have an otherwise pretty bright friend who's argumentative processes go exactly like this. If you present an argument against A, he'll rebut with the frappituidness of B, usually drawing you into an argument over B, instead of discussing his dumb assertion about A.

This is known as the straw man argument.

I don't think he does it deliberately. Honestly, I think he's just watched FOX News a few too many billion times. It's very frustrating nonetheless for anyone trying to have a coherent argument.
